A classical violin virtuoso at the peak of her career slipped in to improv and experimental electro-acoustic performance, bringing quite unexpected performing approaches.
15 years later Manja presents system of graphic notations revealing hidden capacities of an instrument. Lecture will reveal personal creative drives behind the system – from meta nature of music performing, purpose of interpretation to poetry of instrumental sonic capacities.
Manja Ristić (1979) born in Belgrade. In 2001 graduated at the Belgrade Academy of Music; in 2004 awarded at the Royal College of Music, London, with PGDip, Solo / Ensemble Recitalist.
As a solo, chamber and improv musician performed all across Europe and further, involving collaborations with established mentors, conductors and performers, multimedia artists, visual artists, poets, theater and movie directors.
During undergraduate studies starts collaboration with cellist Ivana Grahovac, forming electro–acoustic duo ERUPTION, that in the late 90s brings progressive approaches in instrumental string performing to a Belgrade music scene. After finishing PGDip Manja is moving toward multimedia arts as well as research in the field of instrumental electro–acoustic music.
With ERUPTION, and through numerous collaborations with improvisers and electronic music composers performs in UK, France, Denmark, Italy, Holland, Germany, Austria, Hungary, Slovenia, Croatia…
Manja is founder of Association of Multimedia Artists AUROPOLIS (2004) that by her guidance developed distinctive number of projects in the fields of performing and interdisciplinary arts.
She is also founder and editor of supernovapoetry.net portal; founder and editor of ArtSync web radio dedicated to experimental sound related arts.
