Artist, researcher and curator Bogomir Doringer (1983) was born and raised in Yugoslavia these days known as Serbia. After initial studies in Sociology in Belgrade, Serbia, he went on to receive his Bachelor’s degree from the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam. Few years later he graduated with cum laude from the Master of Film program at the Netherlands Film Academy where his interest in artistic and interdisciplinary research helped shaping of Master of Film department as it is today. In his projects, Doringer deals with socio phenomena that manifest itself in bodies and on bodies of people. Every project gathers experts from different fields, which results provides material of value for art but also for other disciplines.
He has been nominated two times for the Venice Biennale La Biennale di Venezia to present Serbia with the project Hospitality that deals with (ex)military personnel (NATO, UN), who upon returning from war missions had experienced health problems and premature death due to rapid growing cancer of lymphoma and lungs. He researched claims that diseases are related to the use of the Depleted Uranium (DU) Weapons.
Between 2012-2015 he curated series of exhibitions and events internationally dealing with the social phenomenon detected in an image culture titled FACELESS. With this project he researched the common occurrence of hidden faces in contemporary society after September 11th. The project gathered more than 100 contemporary artists and fashion designers. Next year the University of Applied Arts in Vienna will publish special book edition on topic of FACELESS. With the project “I Dance Alone”, since 2014 he is researching clubbing from a bird-eye view.
