We are Europe@Resonate

From 19 to 22 April, We are Europe will return to Belgrade, Serbia. Resonate Live and Resonate Conference invite this year c/o pop Festival & Convention and Sónar & Sónar+D to present their own artistic direction and vision of the future of culture in Europe by curating lectures and performances.

If the festival will officially begin to run from the 19 April, 2 intensive workshops curated by Sónar+D will start on the 17. While Gene Kogan and Andreas Refsgaard will make a 3-day introduction to Machine learning for artists and algorithms used in complex multimedia data, Normal Studio will run A P P A R E L, a workshop dedicated on augmented reality fashion and the act of wearing one’s data.

On the 20, Sónar+D invites German visual artist Christopher Bauder to give an immersive lecture in his world of large scale art, design pieces and environments.

The day after, Joanna Moll will open her 2-day Tracking Forensics workshop and focus on uncovering and analyzing common online tracking practices used by major marketing and advertising corporations. On the same day, c/o pop Convention invites German Hans Nieswandt, a respected character in the world of DJ and club culture, to give a lecture and a music performance. On the afternoon, there will be a lecture by Dimitri Hegemann (co-founder of Tresor and Kraftwerk Berlin), Manchester-based Gabrielle Jenks (director of Abandon Normal Devices) and Florence To (art director and installation artist) for a panel – moderated by Regine Debatty (writer, curator and critic) and curated by Sónar+D and c/o pop Convention – that will approach the role of culture in the development of cities.

On the last day, Spanish artist Pablo Valbuena and Dimitri Hegemann will both give lectures, respectively curated by Sónar+D and c/o pop Convention.

On the night, Sónar will present the Resonate Closing Night that will welcome a unique collaboration with Spanish artist Alba G. Corral and Serbian producer Regen, alongside performances from Arctic-based Biosphere, performing American activist Mykki Blanco and one guest artist that we’ll unveil later.
