David Gauthier is Assistant Professor at the Copenhagen Institute of Interaction Design (CIID) and member of Faculty heading the Interaction Design Programme (IDP). His work and teachings at CIID focus on the cultural, material and experimental nature of technologies as a means to speculate and develop future scenarios involving humans and machines. Since 2011, he has been leading the CIID Labs initiative, instigating new experimental technology prospects through commissioned arts projects and the development of didactic material.
Gauthier holds a degree in Media Arts and Sciences from MIT and has worked as a researcher in various institutions, notably the MIT Media Laboratory, the Banff New Media Institute and the Hexagram Institute for Research/Creation in Media Arts and Technologies. He has artistic and scientific research expertise in domains ranging from actuated textiles to viral communications.
